The Karoo Wool Campaign was born out of the first Karoo Winter Wool Festival held in Middelburg, Eastern Cape in association with Cape Wools and other generous sponsors. The Karoo Winter Wool Festival aimed to celebrate wool as an unique natural fibre.
After the success of this first time event, it was recognised that there is a need for continual education and awareness building around wool and natural fibres in South Africa. There is a need to educate the consumer as well as connect the farmers and processors with the final products.
The Karoo Wool Campaign aims to educate the South African public about wool and where it comes from. We wish to address the disconnect between people and their garments, promoting a more sustainable fashion and fibre culture in South Africa and further afield.
In a time of unsustainable consumption, fast fashion, environmental turmoil and struggling local economy, now is the time to promote sustainable locally resourced and manufactured products from local designers and small businesses.
We can't wait to change the way you think about wool!
